Knee and Joint Pain: An Ever-Present Verisimilitude

This article was prepared with the help of Dr. Tahir Bhinder. We appreciate his time and effort for providing us with the details.

Joints form the connections between bones. They provide support and help one move. Any damage to the joints from disease or injury can interfere with one’s movement and cause a lot of pain.

Many different conditions can lead to painful joints, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, gout, strains, sprains, and other injuries. Joint pain is extremely common. In one national survey, about one-third of adults reported having joint pain within the past 30 days. Knee pain was the most common complaint, followed by shoulder and hip pain, but joint pain can affect any part of one’s body, from their ankles and feet to their shoulders and hands. As one gets older, painful joints become increasingly more common, especially in developed countries such as the one we live in, which has an aging population.

Joint pain can range from simply irritating to very painful. It may be a chronic or an acute condition. These joint pains can affect an individual’s quality of life. Whatever the cause of joint pain is, it can usually be managed through different treatment modalities, such as: medication, physical therapies and alternative treatments including one topical oil treatment which has been shown to relieve the pain.

The Knee Joint

The knee is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body. The knee joins the thigh bone (femur) to the shin bone (tibia). The smaller bone that runs alongside the tibia (fibula) and the kneecap (patella) are the other bones that make the knee joint.

Tendons connect the knee bones to the leg muscles that move the knee joint. Ligaments join the knee bones and provide stability to the knee:

  • The anterior cruciate ligament prevents the femur from sliding backward on the tibia (or the tibia sliding forward on the femur).
  • The posterior cruciate ligament prevents the femur from sliding forward on the tibia (or the tibia from sliding backward on the femur).
  • The medial and lateral collateral ligaments prevent the femur from sliding side to side.

Two C-shaped pieces of cartilage called the medial and lateral menisci act as shock absorbers between the femur and tibia.

Numerous bursae, or fluid-filled sacs, help the knee move smoothly.

Treatment Modalities for Knee and Muscular-Joint Pain

1. Miracle Oil

Ingredients:

  • 2 Eggplants (preferably the size of a tennis ball)
  • 31 g clove
  • 500 mL Mustard Oil

Eggplant is a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B1, and copper. It is a good source of manganese, vitamin B6, niacin, potassium,folate, and vitamin K. Eggplant also contains phytonutrients such as nasunin and chlorogenic acid.

Eggplants have a wide range of health benefits such as helping build strong bones, reducing symptoms of anemia, increasing cognitive function, help lose weight, prevent osteoporosis, and protect the digestive system, and so much more

Clove is a herb. People use various parts of the plant, including the dried bud, stems, and leaves to make medicine. Clove oil is also famous for its medicinal properties. Clove oil is commonly used to cure tooth aches, normally prescribed by dentist.

.

Mustard Oil helps to improve blood circulation, provide relief from joints and knee pain, remove toxic water from the body and reduce inflammation. A very old Miracle oil recipe involves adding Cloves and Eggplant into Mustard seeds Oil. This will help improve blood circulation, provide relief from swelling and pain, remove toxic water from the body and reduce inflammation.

The combination of clove, eggplant and mustard oil prepared accordingly as mentioned below has amazing effect in relieving joint and knee pain, plus exercises that strengthen the muscles can cure the pains associated with aging.

Directions:

  1. Press the cloves in the eggplant so that it covers the entire surface completely, and it is hardly visible. Use a tooth pick to assist in making holes to press the clove.
  2. Dip the 2 Eggplants in 500mL of Mustard oil along with any extra cloves left over.
  3. Boil all the ingredients on low fire until the eggplants become rock-hard.
  4. Strain the leftover oil that is left from eggplant and it is ready for use (only a few drops are sufficient) to be massaged around painful joints.
  5. It is recommended to lightly massage painful areas and cover it to keep warm for half an hour, in order to achieve optimal pain relief.

The miracle oil can also relieve chest congestion, and pain due to the common cold or flu, when massaged on the chest.

Chest congestion is very uncomfortable and unpleasant, and can cause hazardous health issues like bronchitis or pneumonia.

Symptoms of chest congestion can make you very uncomfortable and tired due to the short supply of oxygen. Common symptoms include a tightened chest, irritation in the throat, mild chest pain, cough, dizziness and difficulty breathing.

2. Exercises to strengthen Joint Muscles

The Human foot has three main areas:

  1. Toes
  2. Central Arch (those who do not possess this are known to have a condition known as flat feet)
  3. Heel

Those who mostly put pressure just on their heel to stand and walk, as a habit, are inclined to damage their knees earlier, and develop Arthritis. To avoid this, try to put pressure on the toes and the arch or padding of the foot without lifting the heel. This way the ligaments are not damaged further, and the muscles of the legs get exercise and become stronger. Also, wearing high heel shoes for long period of time may damage the ankle, knee and the backbone. Shoes should be wide in the toe area and comfortable enough so there is no strain.

EXERCISE:

Sitting in an imaginary Position: stand with your back to the wall and position your feet as if you are sitting straight on a chair. Do this slowly. Then slowly raise yourself to standing position and repeat a few times daily. This exercise helps build muscle which protect the knee.

Back joint Pain

Back joint pain is common with about nine out of ten adults experiencing it at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults having it every year. In the United States, acute low back pain is the fifth most common reason for physician visits and causes 40% of missed days off work. Additionally, it is the single leading cause of disability worldwide.

Back pain has several causes. Approximately 98% of back pain patients are diagnosed with nonspecific acute back pain in which no serious underlying pathology is identified. Nearly 2% are comprised by metastatic cancers, while serious infections such as spinal osteomyelitis and epidural abscesses account for fewer than 1%. The most common cause of neurologic impairment including weakness or numbness results from a herniated disc. Nearly 95% of disc herniation occurs at the lowest two lumbar intervertebral levels.

One of the main reasons for the occurrence of back pain is due to a lack of attention given to proper posture by the patient while standing, sitting or lying. The chronicity of this poor posture leads to a disequilibrium in the spinal cord, which then leads to the eventual damage of the bony structures of the spinal cord.

This condition is especially prevalent amongst those individuals who are on the road for long periods of time, due to their occupation, such as taxi drivers or truck drivers, or even those who have long commutes to work.

There is a very simple remedy which has been proven keep this disequilibrium at bay. History teaches us, how the backbone straightening position is an excellent position one can use to reverse any misplacement of bones in the back, which cause persistent back pain or debilitation.

A position that stretches your backbone (Vertebra) tandems

  1. One should put his hands on his knees, firmly, spacing the fingers out, as if he is grasping his knees.
  2. One should stretch their back and make it level with ground forming 90 degrees so that if water were poured on it, it would stay there (not run off).
  3. One should not lower or raise his head, but make it level with his back.
  4. One should keep his elbows away from his sides.

This is part of Muslim prayer. This way of prayer help builds and develops spiritual and physical wellbeing. The complete prayer was taught by the Prophet Muhammad (S).

‘Never say I am aged’

There are three ages, chronological, biological, and psychological. The first is calculated based on our date of birth; the second is determined by the health conditions; the third is how old we feel we are. While we don’t have control over the first, we can take care of our health with good diet, exercise and a cheerful attitude. A positive attitude and optimistic thinking can reverse the third age
